information for artists

The 2024 event has now passed.

Whilst you may have missed the 2024 edition, watch out for information on how to apply for caravan assembly 2026. In the meantime, we wanted to take a moment to outline the selection process and give you a glimpse into how we curate the event.

caravan assembly includes an open call for England based theatre and performance companies. Through this initiative, we aim to bring together diverse voices and innovative ideas from across the country.

We invite companies based in England to submit their proposals. We encourage both emerging and established artists and companies to participate. In the proposal we ask artists and companies to suggest how they best feel they could present themselves and their work or idea, be that through a public performance, pitch, practice sharing, Q&A session - we're open to hearing any ideas you may have.

Information about the application process is released approximately one year before the event. The best way to hear about the next opportunity to apply is by signing up to our mailing list and keeping an eye on our socials.

Here are the different stages of the artist selection process:

  • Long listing

Our in-house team takes on the task of long listing proposals. They carefully review each submission, considering various practical criteria to narrow down the selection.

  • Curatorial Panel Assessment

Once the long listing is complete, we turn to our curatorial panel. This is group of UK and international producers, programmers, and industry experts who bring their wealth of experience and expertise to the table. They delve deeply into the long listed proposals, applying their perspectives to assess each submission. Their invaluable insights help shape the final lineup of artists and companies.
