cultural attaché network

We are proud to deliver the Cultural Attaché Network. The network is for cultural diplomats of embassies, high commissions and cultural institutes based in London. It promotes international collaboration with the UK arts and culture sector through a programme of networking and exchange opportunities.

Established in 2003 by Visiting Arts, the Culture Attaché Network (CAN) is run in cooperation with DCMS, British Council, Arts Council England and Embassy Network. Alongside these partners, it welcomes the participation of members of regional networks including EUNIC London and the Association of Cultural Attachés of Latin America, Spain and Portugal.

The Cultural Attaché Network aims to:

  • Act as a point of contact between cultural attachés and the UK arts and culture sector. CAN helps to circulate information about calls for collaboration, service providers, events and opportunities, UK agenda and sites of cultural significance.
  • Provide opportunities for information sharing and open dialogue. CAN encourages the network to exchange knowledge, expertise, best practice, and to collectively advance international cultural exchange.
  • Foster collaborative working and encourage international showcasing and exchange opportunities in the UK and abroad.
  • Provide a small number of high-quality events that reflect shared needs and interests of the network. This includes presentations on specific arts and culture related topics from key cultural organisations and policy makers, networking opportunities and visits to organisations/ festivals/ venues/ key cities and regions around the UK linked to significant cultural events.

"I want to thank you sincerely for your very kind assistance over the years. The work that you do with the Cultural Attaché Network is very meaningful and has led me to some fulfilling opportunities and relationships for the British Virgin Islands. For a small territory like the BVI, networks like yours really help us to make headway and impact that we would otherwise not be able to access – Thank you!"
