When is caravan assembly?

caravan assembly is a biennial event. Every two years, we bring together the best of England’s contemporary theatre and performance and host a showcase for national and international programmers and producers.

caravan assembly takes place in Brighton, during the festival dates.

The scale of the event was ideal for meeting people and getting to know artists and colleagues without feeling overwhelmed.

Who is it for?

caravan assembly is for artists who have work that is ready to be taken to the international stage, and for international programmers and producers who are looking to programme the best contemporary work being made in England.

What happens at the showcase?

The programme goes through a panel selection process to ensure the work is of high quality to be presented in front of international promoters and programmers. A mix of UK and international producers and programmers reviews a longlist of applications.

It’s also planned precisely so delegates get the right balance of networking, seeing shows and connecting with artists while being in the heart of Brighton.

Across three days in May, delegates will be taken to meet artists, exchange with other international delegates and UK colleagues.

What happens after the assembly?

The artists will continue to get mentoring and subvention support. The caravan team will aid in the development of the company's relationships with venues and promoters.

It is only because so much careful consideration has been put into how and where we meet, how much time we have to breathe and make our own meetings and how we are introduced, that lifelong relationships are fostered and important English work is able to travel.
